#1 - Ease of Use

The first big aspect we’re going to look at in our analysis of IPVanish is how easy it is to use. Many people don’t have much experience in using VPNs and need one that is beginner-friendly. If you’re in that same boat, you’ll love IPVanish. 

We can confidently say that this is one of the simplest-to-use VPNs we’ve tested. And all you need to do to get started is visit the brand’s website and hit the Subscribe Now button to make your account and download the VPN app. 

Once it’s installed – a process that only takes a minute – you’ll be able to open up the program and enjoy all the protection it has to offer. You should find yourself on the main home page of the app, pictured below, which shows your current IP address and location in the top left.

As you can see, there’s a green Connect button in the top right you can press to get connected, and IPVanish is automatically set up by default to connect you to the best available country, city, and server to get you the best speeds. 

This is a feature we really like and it’ll absolutely appeal to beginners, but if you’re more of an advanced user and want to enjoy more of what IPVanish has to offer, you can head into the settings menus.

In the settings menu, you can play around with a lot of different features and parameters, making use of different options and protocols to get the specific levels of protection you need across your devices. What’s more, IPVanish lets you protect as many devices as you like on a single subscription.

#2 - VPN Location

At the time of writing, IPVanish boats more than 1,900 servers spread out all over the globe in over 75 different locations. Additional servers and locations are added to the network at certain times of the year in order to meet high levels of demand, and the company is always looking to add more servers and increase bandwidth to meet customer needs.

In the IPVanish app, you can view the full server list in either a list or map form. This lets you easily see the many countries you can connect to. All the big countries are covered, like the US, UK, Australia, and so on, so those who want to use their VPN to access region-locked sites and services should find that IPVanish is able to get the job done.

#4 - Price

So how about the pricing? This is often an area in which VPNs can either exceed expectations or really disappoint. Some of them are simply overpriced, while others offer great value deals. We’re happy to report that IPVanish fits into the latter category.  

Prices for this VPN start at only $3.75 per month, or you can get IPVanish’s VPN and backup services in a package deal of only $4.58 per month. These prices apply if you choose the yearly plan. 

If you want a monthly plan that can be canceled after any month, you’ll have to pay more ($10.99 per month for VPN or $12.99 for VPN + Backup) but it’s still decent value, especially when compared to many other popular commercial VPNs out there that charge a lot more or confuse users with multiple subscription plans.

#4 - Speed

Speed is another big factor to think about when it comes to using a VPN, as nobody wants to worry about lag or delays when connecting to their favorite sites and services. From our tests, we can say that IPVanish isn’t the fastest VPN out there, but it’s certainly not the slowest either. 

Speeds will vary depending on your precise location and the servers you can connect to. You might have to connect to a few different servers to find the one that works best for you, but you shouldn’t notice any negative impacts on your download or upload speeds. In fact, speeds can even increase with certain servers, but it all mostly depends on your specific setup.
